I started a semi slow draft on Monday.  This draft was through 4 rounds on Monday but my other draft is ahead of this one.

If you plan on being away from the the computer for more than 6 hours lets all be considerate and resposnible and predraft.

At least we should be done by Thursday.  I was hoping to be done by now also, but at this point there is not much we can do.  We are in round 17/18 and there is not much on the board.  Most everyone should be picking up someone who will be dropped in week 4 or 5 or a kicker or extra defense.

Is Carson Palmer still available?

Yeah, 7 of the 12 league members are taking over an hour per pick. I knew I wasn't going to be logging into my computer very often so I have tried to keep ahead of the draft by 3 rounds in pre-draft picks. Some of you guys have done quite well by getting your average pick time into less than 10 minutes per pick.

I have NEVER been a fan of slow drafts and this is the greatest reason along with not having the actual choice of who to take should someone drop that you were sure that they would be gone by your next pick.

But even at the slow pace we are going, we still should be done by Thursday.

Thing that amazes me is 3 of the 4 owners who draft at the corners (pick 1 ,2, and 11) are over 1 hour per pick.  The 1 and 2 picks are over 2 hours.  Considering their next pick is not more than 2 players away it is CRAZY that they don't predraft.  Just making the rest of us suffer.

The fact that I'm replying to this at all is an indication of how bored I am, but since I seem to be the target of some of these comments, I would like to clarify a few things. The one time I took an unreasonable amount of time to draft (almost the entire 12 hr limit!) was the first morning after the online draft debacle. The reason was that I made my pick for that round the night before after the online draft was cancelled per the email we received that night. However, thanks to an email from another league member the next morning, I discovered my pick from the previous night had been "reset" virtually minutes before the timer went off, so I immediately made the pick (again) at that time.  So if you discard that one 11hr lag time pick which wasn't my fault, my avg time per pick ends up at 1hr 23min which is more than reasonable for a slow draft (not to mention my other two "long-time" picks were due to time difference between the West Coast and the East Coast, yes I sleep at night, which if you discounted those, my avg time would have been less than an hour). My apologies if other team members thought I was being inconsiderate without understanding the facts better.

Oh, one more thing. I appreciate the humor surrounding the now infamous "non-Carson Palmer" pick which must be pointed my way since I chose not to draft Palmer even when I had a "second chance" to do so. However, again for the record, I had Palmer and Rothlisberger ranked 5 & 6 on my draft sheet. Now I may end up regretting that decision at the end of the year, but given the Bengals receiver situation (Chad is one hard fall on his shoulder and he's out for the year, TJ was out all pre-season, and Chis Henry is out for several games and is, well he's Chris Henry). Given all those bad vibes, I chose to go with Ben. Again, I may regret it, but I doubt in the best of circumstances there will be much difference between the two (maybe 1-2 pts per game). Good luck everyone this year!
