(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources - Dec 22, 2008) In a week 16 Lunch Boxes showdown, Deacon Blues squeaked by a tough Cardiac Cats team by a score of 153.534 to 145.267, extending the winning streak for Deacon Blues to 4 games.
Deacon Blues were led to their 8.267 point victory by a 29.467 point effort from Jay Cutler, who tore apart the Buffalo Bills defense for 359 passing yards in addition to 30 rushing yards. They also got help from a 23.900 point effort from Brandon Marshall, who beat the Buffalo Bills defense for 129 receiving yards.
"It was a hard-fought contest," Deacon Blues coach Joe Painter said.
Cardiac Cats were helped out in a losing cause by a 38.867 point effort from Philip Rivers, who got by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense for 287 passing yards and 4 passing TDs. With this performance, Rivers was the number 2 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 16. They also got help from a 25.700 point effort from Antonio Bryant, who beat the San Diego Chargers defense for 127 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD.
"Our defense was a non-factor," Cardiac Cats coach Michael Rosenblum said.
Compounding the issue, Cardiac Cats could have scored 165.867 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Michael Rosenblum left key players like Derrick Mason and his corresponding 18.600 points on the bench.
This brings the record for Deacon Blues to 10-6, and drops Cardiac Cats to a record of 11-5.
